Who we are
Faith and Vision was started by David and Christie McRae in 2004. David is the President and CEO of Blackstone Furniture Industries, Inc. and Christie is a Pharmacist for Carolina Pharmacy. They decided to form a program to bring needs and donations together to help people in the surrounding community. There was no reason why a child should not smile at Christmas. We are just vessels used by God to bring sponsors together and pool all resources available. Our hope is to help make a difference and open a window for those who have been shut out of the joys of life, so they can experience the true meaning of Christmas, and the Grace of Jesus Christ.
What we do
Faith and Vision’s Mission is to spread the Baptist message of Faith, Hope and Love though the eyes and teachings of Jesus Christ by assisting those families with children in need during specific times of the year. Faith and Vision’s largest program is our Christmas Hope Drive. We bring needs and sponsors together to supply each child with clothes, toys, and stockings. The smiles on the faces of these children are priceless. Christmas is indeed one of God’s miracles! For one time out of the whole year, we are all a little nicer, we smile a little easier, and we laugh a little more. For a few hours, everyone is more giving and loving. We actually become the people that we always hoped we would be. But you have to take a chance, you have to get involved. There are people who are having trouble making their miracle happen. Do we hide in the shadows of our own hopes and fears or do we step out and help others with theirs and say no, not today, not now, not this Christmas! Sometimes we are there to not only help, but to listen and show compassion as a friend and have an opportunity to share prayer with each family. Every child deserves to experience the Miracle of Christmas!
Why we do it
Over the past several years, our country has experienced many difficulties. We have seen enormous economic downturns, massive unemployment, political unrest, and foreign concerns. For many families, they do not know how they are going to pay the next power bill much less provide for their children. God tells us there is a time to pray and there is a time to act. There is a time to be still, and there is a time to move. As we face each day, our faith in God is necessary to continue on. The bible states in the book of James that “Faith without action is dead”. ‘The Golden Rule’ is one of the basic lessons we teach our children: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. God expects us to help others and he blesses us exponentially when we do. We have the opportunity to put this lesson into action and show children the true meaning of Christmas and the Grace of Jesus Christ.
